Media Computer Center Policy

Policy Number:

011

Policy Title:

Use of Media Equipment by Untrained Persons

Policy Description:

This policy provides the procedure for obtaining equipment from the Media Computer Center after normal business hours.

General

Media Equipment such as Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Projectors cost several thousands of dollars. Funds for repair or replacement equipment are scarce. We intend to protect the value of this equipment and insure that it is in good condition for its intended use in the classroom.

Conditions for Use

Faculty and staff who request the use of LCD projectors for their classrooms must be trained in the proper use of this equipment. This training will consist of:

  • Reading a short section of the applicable User's Guide.
  • A brief demonstration of proper power-up and power-down procedures.
  • An explanation of how to use equipment connected to the projector, i.e, computer, video cassette recorder, and laser disk player.
  • A discussion of zoom, focus, and audio adjustments.

Use by Outside Groups

Outside groups and others who are not employees of Central Lakes College are discouraged from using the Media Center's LCD projectors. We suggest persons not employed by or connected with CLC furnish their own equipment or they may hire, at overtime, technical support for a minimum of four hours service.
