Policy Title:

Use of Specialized Software in the Media Computing Center's Open Lab

Policy Description:

This policy provides an organized procedure for controlling and/or supporting various computer software programs used in the Media Computing Center for classes taught at CLC

All software installed on Media Computer Center equipment must be requested from and installed by Technical Services Department (TSD) staff in accordance with TSD procedures.

Installation and/or use of software that is not currently licensed to Central Lakes College, such as software on disks purchased with a textbook, should also be examined, approved and installed by TSD.

After software has been approved for use on computers in the Open Lab or in the computer classrooms, it will be installed on and run from either fixed drives or the network. Instructors and students will not be permitted to bring floppy disks containing software into the lab to be used on lab computers.

Media Computer Center staff will provide general assistance to students using specialized software; however, they are not expected to be proficient in its use.
