Policy Title:

Copying of Videotapes and Other Copyrighted Materials

Policy Description:

This policy provides Media Computer Center personnel with information and guidance to help them comply with copyright law.

 

 

It is the policy of The Media Computer Center and its employees to comply with all copyright laws. Students, faculty and staff must also comply with these laws while using center equipment.

·         No copyrighted films or videotapes may be copied without the written permission of or a license agreement with the producer.

·         Copyrighted slide programs, audio tapes and film-strips may not be copied without written permission of the copyright holder.

·         Films or videotapes not owned or rented by the Learning Resource Center and which are currently available for rent or purchase may not be shown on CCTV unless the college has written authorization for their use from the copyright holder.

·         All videotaping off-air by CCTV or any Media Computer Center staff on duty will follow the Guidelines for Off-Air Taping. All off-air videotaping and the guidelines for retention of such tapes will be handled according to procedures established by the Information Media Specialist.

·         Approval for "archive" copy of material must be authorized by the Learning Resource Center Information Media Specialist.
