Use of Outside Software

Policy Description:

This policy provides guidance to employees when students, faculty, staff or the public ask to use their own software in The Media Computer Center.

 

 

Only software that has been licensed to Central Lakes College and installed on equipment by authorized personnel may be used with Media Computer Center equipment.

No personal, business, or educational software of any kind is to be brought into The Media Computer Center for use by students, faculty, employees, or the public. This includes:

  • Software that can be run from one floppy drive.
  • Software that requires two floppy drives.
  • Software that requires installation on a hard drive.

This policy has been made necessary by:

  • Licensing concerns.
  • Threat of computer viruses.
  • Difficulties in supporting outside software.
  • Hard drive capacity.
