Susan Bremer
I have over 16 work years in the healthcare industry. I have worked in many different healthcare setting from a rural hospital, major insurance company, and eventually an integrated health system. My experience has been in the revenue management fields both in management and application systems. I have a B.S. from Bemidji State University in Business Administration. I fell into healthcare and literally fell in love with the field; and that lead me to receive a dual Masters in HIM and ITL. I am also nationally certified as an RHIA. I can't get enough of the business and compliance side of healthcare, it is constantly being updated and changing…I'm kind of a nerd that way. But I found a second love and that is education and I want my students to fall in love with what they do – that is the key to success and wealth.

Student Testimonials

I came to this course with no medical background. After just one semester the medical world no longer seemed like a mystery. This program is well laid out. The instructor has taken care in where specific classes are placed within the program to insure that the student is successful in retaining the information. The information presented in each class is relevant and interesting. The class sizes are small enough to be comfortable and large enough to make discussions interesting and diverse. The instructor(s) are easy to reach and always willing to help with any questions a student can come up with. I highly recommend this program to both traditional and non-traditional students.

I worked in the the Healthcare field for many years. Serving in multiple positions I gained on the job experience beginning as a "Nurse Assistant". I transitioned over time to mainly clerical positions, such as medical records, unit secretary, private practice offices, administrative assistant. However, over the last 10 years I was fortunate enough to work at home. Now, I have decided to return to work. I was shocked when I discovered how much things have changed over that time. Investigating my options with the assistance of the many programs available through CLC has led me to the HIS AAS program. I thoroughly enjoy the faculty and environment here at CLC. I am confident that I will graduate fully equipped to re-enter the healthcare industry with a thorough knowledge of the skills in demand.

I have always had a passion for helping people. My instructor, in the Healthcare Administration Program, has seen my struggles to understand certain medical concepts. She has guided me and helped to spark my desire to help people with their medical concerns. Through her teaching and her passion for this program, I now have a strong belief that this is my calling and I am excited that Central Lakes College will be able to fulfill my dream of assisting people in the healthcare field.

Skilled people go further faster. Regardless of where you want to go in life and your future career, starting with CLC will help get you there. My education at CLC, specifically in the Healthcare Administrative Specialist program, opened many doors for me. It provided me with exposure to many different aspects of the medical field, which allowed me to look at a wide range of entry level positions. The instructors and advisors have real world experience and so much more knowledge than textbooks alone can offer. My advisor, Sue Bremer, helped me find an internship which turned into a full-time job. I've been with this company for 2 years now and absolutely love what I do. My experience at CLC was wonderful, and I speak highly of the quality of a CLC education and the excellence of its educators to anyone who will listen.

Enrolling in the Healthcare Admin Program at CLC was one of the best decisions I have made. I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful instructor with a ton of knowledge and resources to offer directly from the workforce. Sue helped me get started in my career in medical records release around the time that I graduated. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in working in this field.
