Computer Network Administration - Cyber Security A.A.S.

Cyber Security network administrators install, configure, test, and support an organization's network infrastructure as well as plan and implement the organizations security policy. They install and configure security hardware and software products, perform ethical hacking and penetration testing techniques to determine and eliminate possible security risks, and investigate cyber-crime that is committed against the organization. Given the increasing amount of cyber-crime and the severity of the threats, Cyber Security specialists are in high demand.

The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Cyber Security Networking Program is a highly-rigorous track with heavy emphasis on industry certification. Coursework includes general networking technologies, network troubleshooting, operating system technologies, project management, computer repair, routing and switching, and security. This program covers an overview of security and networking technologies that graduates can expect to use in industry and delivers curriculum using current hardware and software. CLC's information technology (IT) instructors are industry certified professionals with multiple years of experience in their respective disciplines both in the classroom and in industry. There is nearly 100% placement of our graduates within the IT field.

Luke Andresen
I received an AAS in Computer Programming from St. Cloud Technical College (SCTC)and went to work for an IT consulting firm in St. Cloud. From there, I moved on to a telecommuting job for another consulting firm and was pretty much at home all the time. I found that I needed to get out of the house from time to time and started teaching one night a week at SCTC. That is when I found my passion for teaching. A full time teaching opportunity presented itself at SCTC and I was lucky enough to get it and I taught Computer Programming and Microcomputer Support courses.

My next teaching job brought me to Century College in the Twin Cities teaching primarily Cisco networking courses. Now I am fortunate enough to have earned a position here at Central Lakes College teaching Computer Technology and working to develop a Mobile Applications Development program. I am a first generation college student and a non-traditional student, earning a BAS in Technology Management from Bemidji State University while working full time, supporting a family and paying a mortgage. My background gives me a firm understanding of some of the challenges of earning an education. IT is an awesome field with growth and earning potential for graduates. My hope is that you will find a passion for IT and your success and earnings will follow.
