Kristina Ehnert is an Accounting Instructor at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, MN. Accounting courses that Kristina teaches include; Accounting Principles, Payroll Accounting, Accounting Applications, Intermediate Accounting and Cost Accounting. Being an Accounting Internship mentor and Accounting Club adviser are also part of Kristina’s rewarding responsibilities. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Accounting from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and an MBA degree with an Accounting concentration from Keller Business School of Management. Kristina is also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training program.
Kristina has her Certified Public Accounting license and is a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the AICPA. She began her accounting career in private industry before launching her career in higher education. While working in industry she enjoyed preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements and board reports, performing revenue and cost analysis, compiling audit schedules, reconciliations and footnotes for the annual audit, calculating and examining financial leverage ratios and profitability ratios, but most of all Kristina was enthusiastic in sharing her passion for superior accounting with new accounting staff. Additionally, she taught MS Excel courses through Community Education and relished working with adult learners.
Kristina is active in her community as a director on the IDS #553 School Board, a volunteer on various school committees, a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School volunteer. In her spare time she enjoys scrapbooking, camping, golfing, gardening, and hiking. Above all else, she is a dedicated mother and wife and enjoys spending the most time with her two sons and husband.
Computer Tech Instructor
Ron graduated from Brainerd Community College with an Associate of Arts. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Business Management from the College of St. Scholastica. Ron holds Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications from Microsoft and is a Certified Novell Administrator. Ron holds CompTIA Net+ certification and is a CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT). Ron is a published author of an MCDST textbook/manual and a technical editor and frequent reviewer for books focused on Microsoft system engineering, networking, and administration. Ron has been teaching business management and computer technology for over 24 years, spent two years as an Information Systems Manager and 17 years in circulation management with the Star Tribune newspaper in Minneapolis.
Brandy Hoffmann taught in the Writing Studies Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth for nine years before joining the English department at CLC. She is dedicated to helping students overcome obstacles to writing effectively – fear, procrastination, writer’s block – and she asks her students to think of themselves as powerful contributors through their reading and writing practices. She likes old books, poetry, vinyl records, live music, community radio, children’s literature, lakes, and hanging out with her twin daughters and husband. She received an M.A. in English from UMD.
David Otto is a 2001 graduate with a Welding and Manufacturing Diploma from CLC. David worked for Graphics Packaging INC. in Crosby, MN as a welder, machinist, and assembler, fabricating large automated packaging machines. David then followed his passion for snowmobiles and racing while working as a chief mechanic on the factory Arctic Cat professional snowmobile race team in Thief River Falls, MN He also worked for Carlson Motorsports in Elk River, MN as chief mechanic for their race team until 2013. David also maintains his own fabrication shop at home. He started teaching at CLC in the Fall of 2013.
Director of Nursing
Julie Woitalla MSN, RN, Graduated from the College St. Scholastica in 1991, and received a Masters in Nursing Education from Metropolitan State University. Her Nursing career has included working as a RN at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Crow Wing County Public Health, Horizon Health Home Care and the Pierz School District. She has been with Central Lakes College since 2009. She currently resides in Pierz with her husband where she also assists with the family farm. She has four adult children. She also enjoys gardening, reading and hanging out at the lake with friends.
Professional Experience: Suzie is in her 25th year as a community college counselor. In addition to counseling she teaches classes in College and Career Studies. She has been actively involved in and has served as a board member on the Association of Minnesota Community and Technical College Counselors and the Minnesota Career Development Association.
