ParentsAs a parent of a college bound high school junior or senior, preparing for the ever rising cost of a college education can be difficult. More than half of all undergraduate college students attending two-year or four-year public colleges state the average cost for tuition and fees ranges from $4,000 to $9,000 per year. In addition, the students are paying an average of $5,000 for living expenses. The College in the Schools program provides an opportunity for your child to earn college credit in high school and at no cost to the family. While enrolled in the College in the Schools program, your son or daughter not only saves thousands of dollars on tuition but also develops the skills and understanding of college curriculum necessary for future college success. For questions relating to Central Lakes College's College in the Schools program, please see the attached Parent Handbook.
College and High School Differences Minnesota Association of Developmental Education, (MNADE) developed a brochure that compares high school and college learning environments to better prepare students and their families for postsecondary education. The brochure highlights the differences in curriculum, instructor expectations, and student responsibilities. The brochure is a useful tool to review with your child prior to enrolling in a College in the Schools course to ensure their success.
