Raider Baseball Highlights 2009-2010 Season Raiders Open the Season at the Metrodome The Central Lakes College Baseball team kicks off the season with a three date set at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. On March 17th it's late night baseball for the Raiders as they play the College of Dupage with a 9:45 PM start to a doubleheader. On March 18th, CLC plays Mesabi in a double header schedule to begin at 2PM. On March 19th, it's early morning baseball as the Raiders begin the day at the Dome with a 9AM double header against Vermillion. This six game series begins the 2010 season with a bang and, of course being under the big top at the Metrodome, guarantees these games will be played. Go Raiders! 2009-2010 Raider Roster e
Coach: Pat Held Coach Pat Held begins his second stint as the CLC baseball coach- this time as the head coach. Held was the assistant coach for the Raiders from 1997-2005, working with three different head coaches. In 2000, he was on the staff that helped lead CLC to the only appearance it has had in the school’s history; to the NJCAA World Series. Coach Held is a baseball lifer who has coached at every level of baseball from T-Ball to the NJCAA. During his thirty five years in baseball coaching, he has been the varsity coach at Motley and Staples Motley high schools, the player-manager of the Motley Mets amateur baseball team, and the coach of Babe Ruth, VFW and American Legion teams in Motley, Staples, and St. Augusta in addition to his work at CLC. He has coached at baseball camps, spoken at clinics, and been a volunteer assistant coach in Texas while on vacation. He has twice been chosen to coach in the Lions’ All-Star Series and was named District 24 Coach of The Year in 1988. As a veteran coach, he brings a great deal of experience to his current role with the Raiders. Coach Held is a retired Social Studies and History teacher. He and his wife Carolyn live on beautiful Lake Shamineau just south of Motley. His hobbies include reading, golfing, working out, playing guitar, and being active in church and community activities.
Volunteer Assistant Coach: Luke Schumer
Luke has earned a B.A. in Business from Saint John's University and a M.Ed. in Sports Finance from the University of Minnesota. He is employed as a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial and lives in Baxter MN with his wife Rachael. As a student Luke attended St. Cloud Cathedral High School and won the state baseball championship in 2001. Luke played both football and baseball at Saint John's University and was on the Football National Championship Team of 2003. Currently Luke is a Minnesota State High School League Basketball Official and also Division 3 & Junior College basketball official.
