Living Legacy Gardens

About Us

The mission of Living Legacy Gardens is to serve the horticulture needs of the people of Minnesota through innovative and resourceful demonstration and education.

The Gardens are located at the Central Lakes College Agricultural Center 2 miles north of Staples, Minnesota. The Gardens flowersdemonstrate perennials, annuals, herbs, shrubs, vines, fruits, native plants, and trees hardy to USDA Zone 3 as well as various landscaping styles.

The landscape design was developed in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Landscape Design Program and Meadowbrook Landscaping. Professionals, along with community and student volunteers have implemented the design to create beautiful and educational gardens.
Living Legacy Gardens is supported by area businesses, service groups, individuals, the U of M Central Region Partnership, Staples-Motley Community Education and Central Lakes College.

Enjoy a peaceful stroll through the Gardens or join us for the educational workshops that are offered throughout the season.
Visit often - The Gardens are always open and constantly changing!!

Giving to the Garden
Living Legacy Gardens must depend upon fundraising events and donations to maintain and sustain the gardens. If you have visited us or would just like to make a tax-deductible contribution to a beautiful and educational garden please fill out the form at the link below.
We also would like to give you the opportunity to purchase an engraved paver for the Memorial Walkway that runs through a part of the perennial gardens. Granite pavers are engraved with a loved one’s name (living or deceased). If you have someone you wish to remember or honor with a paver, please fill out the form at the link below.

Thank you to all who contribute. The gardens wouldn’t be the same without your support.
